As you may or may not have heard, over here in the UK we aren’t always blessed with the best of weather. But today was wonderful – the sun was shining, the air even felt humid, and I just had to make the most of it. I got a bit of work done before I spent the afternoon on the beach – it seemed like everybody was out, and I couldn’t miss it.
As I walked back home I started thinking about why I’m working so hard. Sometimes this whole internet marketing business is quite paradoxical – we all have these goals that we’re working for, but we have to put a lot of these on hold while we work our arse off trying to earn just a few cents more every day.
Sometimes working so hard makes me forget why I do it in the first place. But days like today just remind me that I’m on the right track. All the hours I’m putting in haven’t been wasted but, at the same time, it’s a good thing I gave myself a few breaks this week.
Back to my challenge… today I did 10 blog posts but didn’t make up for yesterday. I’m going to scratch yesterday off. If I have to think about making up for it, it just overwhelms me. I’m best off starting again the next day.
I don’t have anything to do this evening. Usually I’ll do something on a Friday night but I’m completely alone tonight – I might even do some work, we’ll see
(Not before I catch up on all the blogs I haven’t had time to check over the last couple of days.)

Ruth,
I love the cold weather, but when you say you live by the beach-I could handle that too. I actually wish I was there right now!

Kelly – Yeah it’s really nice to be by the beach. It’s a nice place to go when it’s hot – and I just find the waves so relaxing
Here in the pacific northwest we have lots of gray and rainy days too, and it’s amazing how much my mood changes and how the world seems different when the sun comes out! Glad to hear you were able to enjoy yourself at the sun – yet another benefit of not having to work in an office 8-5 everyday. Internet marketing does allow you a lot of freedom, but it is certainly a lot hard work too.

Michelle – I really feel the same. When it’s grey for a long time it takes its toll.
Glad to hear that you got out and enjoyed your time off. It certainly sounds like you are working hard. I, too, wonder why I bother exerting so much effort just to earn a few pennies per day. I know for you it is your living. For me, I think I just see it as a challenge, and I have never been one to back down.

One day though I really hope I will be able to. It definitely is a challenge for all of us.
I’m glad you were able to get out and enjoy the nice weather. I’m fortunate to live in an area where the weather is usually nice but I still love getting outside. That’s one of the advantages to working from home. WE decide when we want to take off and when we want to work.

Cathy – So true. And it’s important to get out – not healthy being stuck on a computer all day every day.
Glad you had a relaxing afternoon…. The thing about our work is being able to do this. I a blessed with the flexibility and geographical freedom my online job brings me.

Glad you enjoyed your afternoon off. I’m looking forward to that freedom when I get to do this full time.
Anyway, the weather still looks great again today, and I’ve got a garden shed that needs some TLC. So that’s me outside in the sun all day!

Des – Sounds great!! The weather’s great here again too – I just love weekends like this
These kind of weekends are when I really enjoy living in the UK, when everyone gets out and just has to make the most of it. That and the taste of a cool cider – ahh
Hey Ruth, I know exactly what you mean, the hours fly past and I often don’t think I did enough work online to drive forward to my income goals, I often forget to eat, don’t take breaks, and realize I am sitting on the pc in the dark because night time creeped up on me and I forget to put the light on I was so busy working. My mentor told me this, start small and grow big, stick at your marketing efforts, this grunt work will serve you well in the future, speak soon, Sally

Sally – Lol it’s funny because letting it get dark while I’m busy sat at the computer is something I do very often too! Thanks so much for the encouragement and leaving your comment here.
I’m here in the UK too and agree the weather has been fantastic. I always find it quite a challenge to get any work done in weather like this! In the winter months when it’s cold and grey it’s easy to spend hours at the computer but when the sun comes out and the temperature rises I just want to take a book out and sit on the beach! Like you say though, we are all working towards something and the freedom that an online business can give you means we can enjoy weather like this easier than the “rat racers” who will be tucked up in their offices again soon enough

Richard – It really is a challenge when the weather’s so nice. I’m glad I could enjoy it, especially since it’s gotten cold again so quickly :S
Perfect attitude. if yu miss one day, start fresh the next.
The day you try to make up what you missed the day before is the last day you have fresh…you will most likely a;ways be a day behind; at least.

Dennis – Yeah I think as long as I don’t slack off and know I have worked hard the rest of the time, missing a day isn’t too bad
I was in the UK about two weeks ago and it was cold and windy! I know first hand that it has been icky. I’m in Europe, too and we had our first gorgeous day yesterday with today being even nicer. Hard to concentrate on work under those conditions.
